The Scoop announces New Musical Any Moment For PIP Theatre In January

A brand new musical by Bradley McCaw, Any Moment, is coming to Brisbane’s PIP Theatre next month from 21 – 25 January 2026.

Inspired by John Lennon’s famous observation that “life is what happens while you’re busy making other plans,” Any Moment turns its attention to the fleeting, often unnoticed fragments that shape our lives.

Set on New Year’s Eve and unfolding in real time as the clock counts down to midnight, the work asks what might happen in the gaps between intention and reality.

Through a collage of songs about football, dogs named Rover, shopping trips, love, loss, death and everything in between, Any Moment captures the ordinary and the profound as they collide. The songs serve to remind us that possibility exists in even the smallest of moments.

Producer Bradley McCaw said:

“Any Moment has been in development for 6+ years. I started it naively as a song cycle that featured songs I’d cut from other shows. But as I started to develop the idea… an actual concept for a show took shape. I ended up throwing out all of those old songs and writing 20+ more.

The work explores themes of reflection and humanity. I hope it brings us all closer together by musicalising songs about everyday life. It’s heartfelt and funny and some of my best music to date.” 
Developed as a profit-share pilot production, Any Moment has been created to forge a genuine pathway forward for both the work itself and its emerging creative team. The project champions local artists and recent graduates from the Griffith University Musical Theatreprogram. It offers a platform for new voices at a formative point in their careers.

“I’ve been calling this a pathways production because it is an opportunity for everyone involved. Yes, this is the first time the work will be staged in a theatre. I hope it will go on to find audiences around the world. But this process is also providing opportunities for local emerging artists to develop their craft and build their careers.

We have created several intern / associate positions for cast and crew inside the project so they can explore other aspects of the industry and creative process, in a space environment.

We have an incredible creative team of industry leaders and I’m extremely proud to say we have 20 artists that have come together to mount this production. PIP THEATRE is making all of this possible and we wouldn’t be attempting this without them.”

The cast features Chloe Flanagan, Connor Chadwick, Croft Phillips, Ella Rose Harding, Lulu Miskin, Lucy Ross, Madeleine Ford, Niamh Cadoo-Dagley, Orlando Vella, Sam Henderson and William Kasper, with musical accompaniment by William Martineau. Together, they bring warmth, humour and immediacy to a piece that thrives on ensemble energy and shared storytelling.

Any Moment also holds a special place in Australian musical theatre history. It was the first musical developed at the Australian Musical Theatre Festival in 2019.
